MAC Softball Wins First Region Title Since 2016, Will Host District

Wins over East Central College and St. Louis CC at the Region 16 Softball Tournament propelled MAC through the winners bracket and into the championship game of the Region 16 D2 Softball Tournament on Saturday, May 3.  In the first championship game, the Cardinals found themselves down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning against St. Louis CC but a two out rally led to a game tying triple by Kelsie Politte and a walk-off single by Ainsley Burnett to give MAC their first Region 16 Championship since 2016.

With the win, the Cardinals will now host the Central District Tournament May 10-11.  Participating in the 4-team tournament will be MAC, St. Louis CC, Parkland College and Illinois Central College.  The winning team will advacne to the NJCAA D2 Softball Championship.  The Cardinals will open up on Saturday at 10:00am against Illinois Central College.  The full bracket can be found at: https://athletic.mineralarea.edu/information/2025_NJCAA_DII_Central_District_Softball_Bracket.pdf
