MAC's Season Ends At Regional Tournament, Postseason Honors Announced
The MAC Baseball team recently competed in the Region 16 Tournament in Joplin, MO on May 11 & 12. On Thursday, May 11, the Cardinals faced off against #1 Crowder College in the tournament's opening round. The Roughriders of Crowder College were able to quiet the Cardinal bats, leading to a 10-0 loss for MAC. The Cardinals got one hit from Liam Bushey. Ray Ochoa look the loss on the mound, allowing eight runs on seven hits.
The loss to Crowder sent MAC into the loser's bracket and a matchup with #2 Jefferson College. The Cardinals were able to grab a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first but Jefferson's starter settled in and MAC fell to the Vikings by a final score of 6-1. Collecting hits for MAC were Justin Carinci, Ruendrick Piternella, Kaleb Lemos, Antoine Tremblay, Jack Dunn and Alonzo Zuniga. Jarai Bolden drove in the lone run at the plate for the Cardinals. Ryker Walton took the loss on the mound, finishing with five earned runs while striking out 11 batters. The Cardinals finished the 2023 season at 35-22.
Following the conclusion of the Region 16 Tournament, postseason awards were announced. Congratulations to the following athletes:
