Claywell wins MAC Fall Classic

Claywell wins MAC Fall Classic

(10/7/21) In an exciting and also nerve testing round of golf, MAC golfer Wil Claywell fought back to earn a tie for
first with John A Logan's Andrew Watson. On Wil's next to last hole he hit his approach shot over the
green to a near impossible angle to make par. This did not deter Wil. He made a great shot and putt to
remain in a tie. On his last hole, he knocked his shot into a green side bunker. After an ok bunker shot, Wil
drilled a ten footer for par. "What an exciting and pressure-packed putt that was" said MAC Coach Mike
Mapes. The 54 Hole event was tied.

THE PLAYOFF

In the event of a tie, it was decided a sudden death would be played. Off to Hole 18 at Crown Pointe.
Claywell lost a coin flip and Andrew Watson chose to hit first. He missed the fairway left, while Wil
smoked his driver 310 yards right down the middle. Watson hit his shot in a bunker and Wil put his shot
dead center on the green. Andrew was next to hit and his bunker shot was long about 10 foot past the
hole.

Wil's birdie putt wiggled just past the hole and he tapped in for par. This left Andrew Watson needing to
make his to continue the playoff.  He missed and Wil Claywell was the 2021 MAC Fall Classic individual winner.
Mineral Area finished third as a team just strokes behind. Jonah Burgess finished 7th, Jack Weis-9th, Alden Klug-10th to round out the top 10 scoring
