Track and Field now has 22 qualifiers for NJCAA National Championships

TWENTY-TW0 MINERAL AREA COLLEGE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES SET TO COMPETE AT NJCAA DIVISION III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN NEW YORK

 

The Nationally ranked Mineral Area College Track & Field teams finished up their regular season schedule last Saturday, April 30th, with competition at the Illinois College "True Blue" Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois.  Three MAC Track athletes took advantage of the final chance for National qualification by hitting their times or marks in their events.  Rachel Wilson in the 800 meter run, Jordan Bales in the 110 High Hurdles, and Josh Duerr in the Discus added to the already large list of Cardinal qualifiers.  Twenty-two Track & Field Redbirds are set to compete in Troy, New York on May 12th-14th at the NJCAA Division III National Track & Field Championships at the Hudson Valley Sports Complex.  Several of the MAC athletes are setting on top of the National rankings in their events, including Hunter Cary with top performances in the 110 M Hurdles and Decathlon, as well as overall qualification in an astounding 9 events; Kyle Vinyard  and Haley Hernandez in the 10,000 meter run; and Jacob Arnold in the 5,000 meter run.  Top 8 finishers in each event score points for their team, with top 6 placings winning medals.  Top 3 schools in each division will be awarded trophies.  A number of the Mineral Area T & F team members will be in the hunt for medals, as well as All American performances.  Good luck to all in their events and let's bring home some hardware!!!  Complete results for MAC at the Illinois College meet are at the following site:
