Cardinals Finish 2023 Season As Region 16 Runner-Up

The Mineral Area College softball team recently competed in the Region 16 D2 Softball Tournament, finishing as runner-up.  On Friday, May 5, the Cardinals took on #4 seed MSU – West Plains to open the tournament.  MAC was able to defeat the Grizzlies by a score of 4-1, advancing in the winners bracket.  Next up, the Cardinals took on #1 seed St. Louis CC.  The Archers were able to top the Cardinals 8-0, forcing MAC into the loser's bracket.

On Saturday, May 6, the Cardinals bats heated up, as they defeated MSU-West Plains again, this time by a score of 10-5 before eliminating Moberly Area CC by a final score of 9-8.  The two wins on Saturday propelled MAC into the championship game.

The Cardinals faced a difficult task on Sunday, having to defeat #1 St. Louis CC twice to claim the championship.  MAC's offense was able to produce six hits against the Archers' pitching but the Cardinals were unable to push any runs across as they fell by a final score of 3-0.
