Bio

The Mineral Area College Board of Trustees approved the hiring of CJ Wright as Mineral Area College’s new head softball coach on June 15, 2023.  CJ becomes the College’s third head softball coach in program history.

CJ most recently spent nine years as the head softball coach at West County High School, where he led the Lady Bulldogs to eight MAAA Conference Championships, four district championships and two MSHSAA State Tournament appearances, finishing second in 2023.  CJ began his coaching career at West County in 2012.  In addition to his time as head coach at West County, Coach Wright also coached the Louisville Lady Sluggers and Mineral Area Bandits from 2011-2022.  In 2018, his 16U team finished the season as Fastpitch America Softball Association National Champions.

CJ is a graduate of Bismarck High School, Mineral Area College and Lincoln University.  After high school, he played baseball at Mineral Area College before transferring to play at Sam Houston State University.  CJ transferred to Lincoln University his senior season, where he finished his playing and academic career.
