Cardinals Upset #4 Wabash, Enter NJCAA Rankings At #25
The Mineral Area College women's basketball team went 2-0 in the 8th Annual Chris Morrison State Farm Classic on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25. On Friday, the Lady Cardinals came away with their biggest win of the 2023-24 season when they took down #4 Wabash Valley CC by a score of 87-78. Leading the way offensively for MAC were Maddie Ayers (23 points), Telia Graham (16 points, 13 rebounds), Audra Pasakarnis (14 points) and Ashley Buragas (10 points). On Saturday, MAC took on Rend Lake College and cruised to an 83-42 win. In Saturday's win, the Lady Cardinals received double figure scoring from Remi Langmaid (14 points), Katelyn Chomko (14 points) and Sydney Lewis (10 points).
With the 2-0 weekend, MAC improved to 10-1 overall. The big week also propelled the Lady Cardinals into the NJCAA National Rankings for the first time this season at #25. MAC will return to action on Wednesday, November 29 when they travel to John A. Logan College for a 5:00pm tip.
