With the season already underway in late January, both the men's and women's teams are ready to showcase their talent across a variety of indoor and outdoor meets, culminating in national championship opportunities.
Indoor Season Highlights
The season begins on January 25th with the IC Snowbird Invitational in Jacksonville, IL, where the teams will face off against some tough competition. This early event gives the teams a chance to test their readiness and make adjustments before the upcoming national championships. The Principia Relays, held on both January 31st and February 1st in Elsah, IL, will be an important event as the teams look to build momentum for the remainder of the indoor season.
Another key indoor meet is the Keck Select on February 8th, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. With several events lined up throughout the month, including the IC Hilltop Classic on February 21st, the teams will be pushing for top performances as they prepare for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships in Lubbock, TX, on March 7th-8th.
Outdoor Season Preview
As the season transitions into March, the outdoor competitions take center stage. The Miner Invitational on March 21st in Rolla, MO, is one of the first opportunities to hit the track outdoors. The CMU Invitational follows shortly after on March 28th-29th in Fayette, MO, as the teams look to continue building their form heading into the heart of the outdoor season.
The teams will then head to Cape Girardeau, MO, for the SEMO Invitational on April 4th-5th, followed by the Cougar Classic in Edwardsville, IL, on April 12th. These events will serve as key preparation for the later part of the outdoor season and the national championships.
April's action continues with the Sycamore Invitational in Terre Haute, IN, on April 26th, and the Dewey Allgood Invitational on April 29th in Rolla, MO. These meets will be a critical final tune-up for the athletes as they push toward their peak performances.
National Championships
For both the men's and women's teams, the ultimate goal is to perform at the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Utica, NY, from May 8th-10th. This event will be the culmination of months of training, where the teams hope to make a significant impact on the national stage.
