Cardinals Battle Back Against MCC, Secure #2 Seed In Regional Tournament

The MAC men's soccer team came from behind twice on Satruday, October 12 to defeat Metropolitan CC by a final score of 4-3.  In Saturday's crucial Region 16 matchup, the Cardinals struck first when Cade Blackmon scored at 23:00 to give MAC a 1-0 lead.  That lead would not last long as MCC answered to make it 1-1 going into halftime then quickly scored in half two at 51:00 to take a 2-1 lead.  George Neill ansered in the 53rd minute to tie the match at two but MCC once again took the lead with a goal at 73:00.  The score remained 3-2 in favor of the Wolves until the Cardinals scored back-to-back goals from Josh Somerville (74:00) and Leo Mendez Gonzalez (87:00).  MAC was able to hold on to the late lead for a 4-3 win.  

With the win ove MCC, the 13th ranked Cardinals improved to 10-4-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in Region 16 play.  More importantly, with the win over MCC, MAC secured the #2 seed for the upcoming Region 16 Tournament and will received a bye in the quarterfinal round.  The Cardinals will be off until the host a yet to be determined opponent in the Region 16 Semifinal match on Tuesday, October 29 at 2:00pm.
